The story of Karz is well known and hence, unnecessary to repeat. The result is nothing short of defiling of a classic. The makers (script writer, director and producer) conveniently forgot this while making this abomination. There is a strong need for originality that makes a remake stand alone. It is more than just taking each major scene and redoing it on a gargantuan scale. "Karzzzz" is perhaps one of the worst movies of the year.

The only bright spots of this movie is Himesh Reshammiya's acting, his music, and the classic story. I wish subhash ghai had remade the movie himself because that would for sure be a 5 star movie! Urmilla Matondkar continues to be the worst actress in the industry, and there is nothing special about the new actress that debuted in this movie. I feel that the movie moved way to fast, and the characters didn't have enough time to develop. Himesh did remake Ek Hasina Thi, which I guess he had to if he wanted to remake the movie becasue it's such an important song to the story. Tandoori Nights and Hari Om Hari Om are the songs that stand out in your mind. I wish Himesh had included the song that was in the beginning of Om Shanti Om, but the music is incredible anyways. It's a remake of the 1980 Subhash Ghai movie with Rishi Kapoor. As for the movie, the story is incredible. He is an extremely well rounded person with the capabilities to sing, dance, compose music, compose lyrics, and act. But, however, in only his second career movie, HR continues to impress me with his acting talents. Many laugh when the topic is brought up that he suddenly turned into an actor.
You were the only cowboy that time.Himesh Reshammiya is an amazing singer and composer. Kusnur: They would have run and come to me!! Me: Good that didn’t happen else you would have reviewed and slammed them so badly that the girls would have run away from the shows. Me: Sir, did this kind of shows ever happen? Like Rishi Kapoor, Mithun, Govinda and all dancing on stage and people dying to watch them. Kusnur: At that time there was a trend in Rishi Kapoor’s movie of him doing a dance number on stage at the start of the movie. Kusnur: It is the only flop song in the soundtrack. It features Kishore, Anuradha Paudwal and Manna Dey. ‘Main Solah Bares Ki’ was sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore. Wasn’t it sung by Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar? He has just one song but it stands out from the others. Kusnur: I love the violin solos in the song. Me: He made Yaadien too!! Anyways Rafi sang ‘Dard e Dil’ like no one could. Be it in this movie or movies like Saudagar, Ram Lakhan. Subhash Ghai always shot his songs beautifully. Kusnur: Other than that, the picturisation was superb. And then my post gets wonderful comments. Readers will think we are slamming an album again.
Kusnur: Ya, I think it’s a copy of Lord Shorty’s song by the same name. Me: Its quite a long song, over 9 minutes. Kusnur: The guitaring and drumming in the song is fantastic and of course Rishi Kapoor’s dancing. Me: But ‘Om Shanti Om’ was more popular than the other songs. The theme music of this music is a note to note copy of George Benson’s ‘We As Love’.
Me: People have to realise that Bollywood has been copying songs since ages. Kusnur: This song was a take on ‘Sixteen Going On Seventeen’ from the movie ‘The Sound of Music’. Kunsur: When I was 17, the 12 year old girls sang it for me. Sir tell me one thing honestly, did you ever sing the song ‘Main Solah Bares Ki’ for someone or someone sang it for you? Kusnur: This movie had some great Kishore Kumar songs, there was one Mohammad Rafi hit song too but essentially it’s all Kishore. Me: In all Subhash Ghai’s movies music has prominence. Subhash Ghai always preferred the Laxmikant Pyarelal- Anand Bakshi combination till Laxmijij passed away. Kusnur: Kishore’s singing, Laxmikant Pyarelal’s music and Rishi Kapoor’s dancing. The most perennial question on everyone’s mind, specially these days, is where is the money? It recently struck my mind too and reminded me of the song ‘Paisa Yeh Paisa’ from the movie ‘Karz’.
